The Joy of Decorating

Updated: Feb 20, 2022

I love decorating. There's something joyful about infusing your own style into a space that just days before was something generic. Over the years, I've had the chance to makeover some very different places: I've lived at 6 addresses in the past 6 years alone! And of course, another move is scheduled for next year when our new house is finished.

From my old townhouse in Maryland that saw me through a divorce, to a small condo in Florida as a newly-single girl, to the large house my new boyfriend bought (a.k.a. now my husband), to an apartment we lived in while we waited on construction of our last house, to the Palm Beach suburban home we built, to the rental house we're in now, to the farmhouse on our horizons - ahhh I'm almost dizzy just thinking about packing that many times! From north to south, renting to owning and back again, we've moved a lot and I've started over many times. All those moves meant having many new canvases to make my own. Yup, from small spaces to big places, tiny city patio garden to 20 forested acres, I've been there and I will share!

Blue and White Living Room Decor

This is the living room in the house we just sold, back in Palm Beach County. I had so much fun choosing all the finishes and decorating it.

Classic Living Room Gray Walls Brown Couch

Pictured above is a living room I did in a house owned by my husband, back when we were dating in 2016.

After my husband and I got engaged, we decided to move. By 2017 I had redecorated his entire house, we put it on the market, and it sold for the highest amount any home had ever sold in that neighborhood at the time. I knew I had a knack for this and wanted to sharpen my skills, so I started a side business and a blog (a different blog... allow me to explain.)

My original side business and blog centered on professional decorating and organization services, and it seemed like it was off to a good start. Then I got pregnant shortly after our marriage, suffered from extreme hyperemesis, and a short 9 months of puking later, we had a bouncing new baby girl! My world changed and I let the business-slash-blog fall by the way side. It look me a long time to recover but I'm glad I took that time to get healthy and focus on our new family. Now our baby is turning two, despite all the moves and sales and builds, things are settling into a routine and I have the blogger's itch again. So, I'm back, this time with a whole new house on the horizon, and a whole new set of challenges and learning experiences to share!

So here's to new friends and experiences, DIY-ers everywhere, being grateful for what we have, and great interior design that brings us all together. I hope you all enjoy my blog!

With Love,

Molly
