November 2021 Update: We Cleared a Path!

Updated: Feb 13, 2022

Of course, by "WE cleared a path" I mean a professional came out with some pretty big equipment. For a very reasonable price, a gentleman came out with a bush hogger and pre-cleared the driveway and homesite. He also cleared a few more paths on the land so we could access some areas that previously were too thick to reach.

As expected, the bush hogger machine could not handle the entirety of the terrain and the contractor will have to return later with larger equipment to remove trees that are currently in the path of construction. But in the meantime, it's nice to be able to more easily walk around! Now we can easily access the land and get a much clearer (pun intended) view of where the house will be and where we can put a garden, chickens, future barn, and all that good stuff!

Here is a little photo tour of the site so far, along with several discoveries we made!

1. The Entrance / Future Driveway

A few trees will be cleared to make the driveway wider and straighter.

2. There's an Old Well!

Can anything be salvaged? We'll find out!

3. The Home Site

Someone is testing out her new backyard, haha.

4. Giving Daddy a Kiss (too cute to leave out!)

"I love you, Daddy! P.S. Thanks for carrying me!"

5. There is a clearing!

From the map view, we thought this was a sandy pit. But it turns out it's a semi-level field, yay! Maybe the chickens can live here.

6. What a Backyard!

Maybe we can use this for a solar field, a chicken run, or a play area for someone I know who has lots of energy to burn, haha.

7. We Just Love the Woods!

Mommy took turns as the "horsie" too. But mostly, our little explorer wanted to walk in her little boots!

8. An Old Power Line

There's part of an old power line to the well. Someone must have used this land for something back in the day, but we don't know what.

9. A Cool Tree

I had to take a photo of this tree. I think it's a water oak. Check out what almost looks like "new trees" growing off the bent limb.

10. Best View Ever

And in closing, here is a dad carrying his cute little girl. Love, love, love!

Well, that's a little photo tour of the land now that we were able to explore it more!

Next up: The builder says they are planning to start construction in December, woo-hoo! We just can't wait! In the meantime, thanks for reading and sharing our progress. Slow but steady, we trust we'll get there, Lord willing!

With Love,

Molly
